Yesterday marked the second annual Shop Small Business Saturday which is officially held the day after Black Friday. I believe this is a wonderful concept that should be carried out 365 days a year.

Just think want it would mean to our community if we shopped in our communities and with our neighbors that are business owners (mom & pop shops and e-commerce / on-line business owners). It would literally transform our community overnight to a sustainable prosperous community that anyone would clamor to live in.
–
I’m sure the business owners reading this would welcome a Paradigm Shift of having their community shop with them.
–
Does that mean you should never shop at a “Box Store”? No!, however, if we make the effort to transfer say 10-25% starting today and promoting the idea to others it would transform ourselves, our communities and our nation. We are all leaders by edifying the example set by President Obama.

President Obama marked “Small Business Saturday” by taking his daughters Sasha and Malia to a DuPont Circle bookstore.
At Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe, the president greeted one curious onlooker, a boy named Alexander who was accompanied by his grandmother, saying: “You doing some Christmas shopping? Not yet? Well, we’re starting early. This is Small Business Saturday. So we’re out here supporting small business,” according to pool reports. It’s the 2nd annual “Small Business Saturday,” a campaign backed by American Express, FedEx, Google, Facebook and others, to bring a little holiday cheer to smaller retailers the day after Black Friday.

David Jones, CEO of Havas and Euro RSCG, said he envisions a world where the people that do the most good make the most money. He also referenced recent programs like Pepsi Refresh and Nike Better World as examples of successful socially responsible campaigns.

Social entrepreneurs who think the time to launch their first venture has passed them by may want to think again.
