How do you drink your political news? Straight or watered down

Hello Everyone:

Now that the 2012 presidential campaign is underway betweenPresident Obama and challenger Mitt Romney; you may want to subscribe to the actual videos that are released through the White House and the Barack Obama channels on You Tube. is an excellent E-News/Blogs on political matters  Of course; there are many other blogs on politics.
My preference is to hear directly from the President regarding what he said rather than have his remarks filtered through the mass mediaoutlets like TV and radio with their spin or chopped up version; even though I do listen to mass media news on occasion.
One also has the option of hearing the President’s remarks in their full context.  Usually the speeches are taped in full and/or broken down in shorter videos. Channel subscriptions will send  to your e-mail  newly released videos.

Fly out to meet Barack & Michelle on the campaign trail for dinner

Hello Everyone:

Since the campaign is heating up; make sure you get in the game with this wonderful way to possibly meet thePresident and First Lady on the campaign trail for dinner.  Deadline date to enroll is Tuesday, June 26th.
I inserted the photos from the Dinner with Barack and Michelle held on March 2, 2012 at a new Washington, D.C. restaurant Boundary Road.
Three women were selected for the March dinner.  You can tell from Michelle’s e-mail below how much our President truly cares for women.

The following e-mail is from Michelle Obama:

Camille —

For the first 10 years of our marriage, Barack and I lived in an apartment in my hometown of Chicago.

The winters there can be pretty harsh, but no matter how snowy or icy it got, Barack would head out into the cold — shovel in hand — to dig my car out before I went to work.

In all our years of marriage, he’s always looked out for me. Now, I see that same commitment every day to you and to this country.

The only way we’ll win this election is if we can rely on one another like that, all the way to November 6th. Barack is working hard, but he can’t do this alone — he needs your help.

Make a donation today to build this campaign — when you do, you’ll be automatically entered to join Barack and me for a casual dinner:

Your flight, your meal, your accommodations — that’s all taken care of. Just bring yourself and a guest, and get ready to enjoy a good meal together.

Obama - Biden
Camille –House meetings are some of the easiest and most effective ways to bring new people into this organization. One person hosts a few friends and neighbors for some fun, and to talk about why this election matters. And at the end of the night, everyone goes home fired up to pitch in for the President and other Democrats.

That’s why we’re kicking it into high-gear this month, with a week of house meetings all across Michigan. It’s a great chance for you to get your friends and neighbors involved and ready to help get other Michiganders registered to vote.

Can you host one in your neighborhood?

We’ll provide you with all the materials and support you need to get prepared, including an organizer checklist and agenda. We’ll help you set up a screening of the campaign’s newest ad, “Forward,” and give you tips on starting a good discussion with your group.

All you have to do is open your doors to people in Detroit who are looking to get involved.

This election is going to be tough, and it’s more important than ever that we have a strong grassroots network of neighborhood teams to register voters and build support for the President and other Democrats. These house meetings will get our summer — and the countdown to Election Day — started on the right foot.

So sign up now to host an event in June — and take your organizing in Detroit to the next level:

My dad from Caroline Kennedy

“Let’s Surprise Dad!”

This delightful email with memories from Caroline Kennedy and her dad. She Included the 3 min. below video.
I added the “Let’s Surprise Dad!” photo of Barack working in the oval office; and of course, I had to attach the iconic photo of John Kennedy clapping while Caroline and John John dance in the oval office.
Camille —

I grew up in the White House. I remember as a small child visiting my father in the Oval Office while he worked.

But really, we could have been growing up in any American home. We were just children, happy to see our dad — even if he was stepping out of a helicopter that had landed on our front lawn.

That’s why, on Father’s Day, I’m thinking of Michelle Obama and the girls, and the time they’ll get to spend with the President as a family.

I can appreciate how long the days can be — and how wonderful it feels to know that, no matter how full your father’s plate is, you’re the best part of his day and the most important part of his life.

Thanks for joining Michelle and others all around the country to wish the President a happy Father’s Day.

Now, take a minute to watch a video she recorded about Barack as a father:

Thanks, and happy Father’s Day to every dad out there.

Promoting Fatherhood Buzz campaign with Army officers and barbers…
President Obama on Wednesday had a special early Father’s Dayluncheon at Kenny’s BBQ Smokehouse in Washington, DC.  He was joined by four guests, all fathers:  Two barbers and two members of the military who are participating in the Administration efforts to promote better fatherhood.
Above, the President and to his right Otis Gamble of Mason’s Barber Shop;  US Army Captain Joubert Paulino; Nurney Masonowner of Mason’s Barber Shop, and US Army First Lieutenant William Edwardsthe 2012 Military Fatherhood Award Winner.

1. 1st Lieutenant William (Bill) Edwards of the U.S. Army is the 2012 Military Fatherhood Award Winner as selected by the National Fatherhood Initiative.  He is currently based at Fort Jackson in South Carolina where he lives with his wife of 13 years, Esther, and their four children.  Lt. Edwards uses his musical and cinematic talents to stay connected with his four children before, during, and after his deployments. He was deployed with the 3rd Infantry Division Band in 2007-2008 for 14 months in Iraq. While he was deployed, he sent a flag that had flown over Camp Victory headquarters in Iraq to his daughter’s preschool as a reminder of how much he cared about his family.
2. CPT Joubert Paulino of the U.S Army is currently based at Fort Meade in Maryland where he resides with his wife of 16 years, Ginamarie, and their two children Jonah, age 6, and Julia, age 4.  CPT Paulino uses his desire for adventure to stay connected with his children.  For example, he involves his children in the selection process of states or countries where they would like to start an adventure or experience of a lifetime. This year, his children have selected to snorkel the reefs of Hawaii.  CPT Paulino continuously travels for his specialized emergency response team, and serves his country through chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense, however CPT Paulino also manages to stay very involved in his son Jonah’s Tiger Scout troop.

3. Nurney Mason has operated Mason’s Barber Shop on H Street Northeast in Washington, D.C. continuously for 51 years and is one of the longest-standing business owners in Washington.  Mason also cuts hair in the U.S. House of Representatives when he’s not at his own shop. Mason has been married for over 30 years and has 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He co-owns Mason’s Barber Shop with his son, Robbie. Mason’s Barber Shop is a participant in the“Fatherhood Buzz” campaign lead by HHS, which is reaching out to dads with positive information through barbers and barber shops.

4. Otis “Big O” Gamble is still an active barber at Mason’s Barber Shop, a participant in the “Fatherhood Buzz” campaign lead by HHS. Nurney Mason hired him 45 years ago, and they’ve been cutting hair together ever since.  Mr. Gamble picked cotton in South Carolina as a young man and has had a successful career in the U.S. Army and as a barber, raising three wonderful children, including a son who is retired from the Army and a daughter who is currently a Major in the Army. “Big O” still hosts an annual 4th of July Bar-B-Q for the entire H Street Neighborhood.

Where were you June 16, 2008?

Hello Everyone:

Four years ago today; I decided to do something other than talk and decided to “actively”  support Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign.  I organized three Artists for Barack Obama events; Democratic Nomination watch party and all three of the Presidential Debates and Vice Presidential watch parties.
Everyone stepped up to the plate and contributed with their resources and talents.
Contributions came in the form of:
1.  Three unique Art shows by various Artists with sale proceeds going to Barack Obama’s campaign.
2.  Creation of Obama works of Art in the form of painting of Barack, Barack T-shirts & note cards
3.  Contributions of refreshments from wine to sodas, gourmet cheese & fresh fruit trays to pizza & sandwiches during the Art shows and Obama campaign watch parties.
4.  Musical performances ranging from a chorus to a classical cellist for the Art shows.
5.  Creating announcements, posting watch parties on Barack Obama’s campaign website and sharing information to various people and social media networks..
6.  Office conference room & TV contributed for watch party viewing..
The above events and contributions were not so much amount the dollar amount as they were about planning, donating time & in-kind services, being creative and becoming excited and staying committed  from June 16th thur November 4th 2008.
The 2012 general election is gearing up and it’s time to connect with your local campaign office and lend whatever resources and talents your have to registered people and get them to the poles on November 6, 2012.
For more information, go to: Obama For America and check out Gotta Vote to find an event to volunteer your talents.  View the menu to see all the various programs and how you can get involved including creating your own unique event.
Go to:  Obama campaign store to view and purchase your campaign merchandise. Store – Barack Obama
