It’s almost a Brand New Year!

I love the picture below depicting the end of the year as anticipation of a new year unfolds.
 –
Composer and conductor, Marvin Frederick Hamlisch is one of only eleven EGOTs – those who have been awarded an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. He is also one of only two people to have won those four prizes and a Pulitzer Prize.  Marvin Hamlisch’s Bio
 –
Mr. Hamlisch recently passed away in August of this year,  He left an incredible body of work including the “The Last Time I Felt Like This”, composed for the movie Same Time, Next Year – 1978; lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman.
 –
On a Christmas Oprah Winfrey show below; this beautiful duet song is sung with the incredible voices of Johnny Mathis and Jane Olivor.

The Last Time I Felt Like This Lyrics

Hello, I don’t even know your name
But I’m hopin’ all the same
This is more than a simple hello
Hello, do I smile and look away?
No, I think I’ll smile and stay
To see where this might go.
‘Cause the last time I felt like this
I was falling in love,
Falling and feeling,
I’d never fall in love again
Yes, the last time I felt like this
Was long before I knew
What I’m feeling now with you.
Hello, I can’t wait till we’re alone
Somewhere quiet on our own
So that we can fall the rest of the way
I know that before the night is through
I’ll be talking love to you
Meaning every word I say
‘Cause the last time I felt like this
I was falling in love
Falling and feeling,
I’d never fall in love again
Yes, the last time I felt like this,
Was long before I knew
What I’m feeling now with you
Oh, the last time I felt like this
I was falling in love
Falling and feeling
I’d never fall in love again
Yes, the last time I felt like this
Was long before I knew
What I’m feeling now with you.

Can Kwanzaa’s principals stop the Fiscal Cliff?

Hello Everyone:

Hopefully the Fiscal Cliff can be adverted by implementing the third Kwanzaaprincipal “Ujima” which means Collective Work & Responsibility and the fourth principal“Ujamaa” which means Cooperative Economics.

To learn how to promote Cooperative Economics Education and Practice through Kwanzaa and beyond; click on the article below.

–
Seven Spools of Thread Storyline:
In an African village live seven brothers who make life miserable with their constant fighting. When their father dies, he leaves an unusual will: by sundown, the brothers must make gold out of seven spools of thread or they will be turned out as beggars.
Collective Work & Responsibility – “Ujima”
On Friday, December 28, 2012; President Obama made a statement on adverting tax hikes for middle class families in the 6 minute video below.
Cooperative Economics – “Ujamaa”
Even Starbucks Coffee is feed up with the fiscal cliff and is now writing the words “Come Together” on their coffee cups.  Congress can certainly learn about Fair Trade practices andCooperative Economics from the successful Starbucks’ business model.
Happy Kwanzaa!

The story behind Mitt Romney’s loss in the presidential campaign to President Obama – Boston Globe

Hello Everyone:

This picture seems to capture how Mr. Mitt Romney was really feeling about running for president.  It was during the 2nd debate when Mitt Romney said that President Obama didn’t call the Libyan attack a terrorist attack and was corrected by President Obama that he did call it a terrorist attack and to read the transcript of his speech which the debate moderator confirmed.
While it appeared at times Romney didn’t have his heart and mind into the 2012 presidential campaign; it is confirmed in the Boston Globe article below by his eldest son Tagg.
I find it appalling that someone who was “talked into” running for president came as close as he did in succeeding.  If Mitt Romney would have been elected; he would have been one miserable person the day after January 21, 2013 when reality set in.
The message is that each of us should follow our passion when it comes to one’s main career or purpose in life.

Barack Obama & Mitt Romney_Debate Oct. 16, 2012
The following appeared on Boston.com:
Headline: The story behind Mitt Romney’s loss in the presidential campaign to President Obama
Date:     Dec 23, 2012

An examination by The Globe of how the 2012 presidential election unfolded shows that Mitt Romney’s problems went deeper than is widely understood. The campaign made a series of costly financial and political mistakes that, in retrospect, all but assured the candidate’s defeat against the revolutionary turnout tactics of President Obama. Romney’s miscalculation in Ohio and the meltdown in his voter turnout operation are but two of numerous examples of how his effort to become president faltered under faulty assumptions.

Yum! Yum! An eleven foot Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Christmas Tree

YUM! YUM!

Luxury chocolate brand Ferrero Rocher’s latest advertising campaign involving a giant edible chocolate tree is the most likely reason for the brand’s dramatic increase in Facebook fans.

Around 7,000 people a day are becoming fans of chocolate brand Ferrero Rocher on Facebook, making the brand the sixth biggest in terms of daily fans. The reason for the brand’s dramatic increase in admirers can most likely be attributed to the combined factors of the popularity of the chocolate around Christmas time and a recently launched advertising campaign that featured a giant edible Christmas tree.

The 3.35 meter (11 foot) tree was constructed in London’s Covent Garden on November 25, and passing shoppers were invited to sample the brand’s chocolates. The tree, thought to be the largest-ever edible tree, was part of Ferrero Rocher’s ongoing Christmas campaign, which bears the slogan “Christmas isn’t Christmas without Ferrero.”  Other smaller trees have been erected in locations across the UK, including Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and Sheffield.
