President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama traveled with Malia and Sasha and their grandmother Marian Robinson  to  Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania.  This was a trip that covered several African countries and a wide range of partnerships for economic growth and thoughtful conversations and a wealth of education and a dynamic cultural explored during the week long trip.

CONNECTING CONTINENTS:  A CONVERSATION WITH THE FIRST LADY 

The First Lady, along with daughters Malia and Sasha, joined President Obama’s official visit to Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania on June 26–July 2. During the trip, the First Lady met with young people and highlighted the power of education.  The conversations during her trip are liken to Africa”s history of rich oral conversations.

The event, hosted by the George W. Bush Institute,  kicked off Tuesday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

First Ladies Michelle Obama & Laura Bush united Tuesday in Tanzania for a conference on women’s issues.  This is the formation of the 1st annual First Ladies Summit which will highlight the contribution of first ladies.  For the launch initiative the theme is “Investing in Women:  Strengthening Africa” hosted by the George W. Bush Institute in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

President Obama and the First Lady traveled to Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania to meet with leaders from government, business, and civil society, and to reinforce U.S. commitment to expanding economic growth, investment, and trade; strengthening democratic institutions; and investing in the next generation of African leaders.

Planning Africa’s Future 
President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush opened the Mosi-Oa-Runya Clinic, a cervical cancer facility in Livingston, Zambia.  Their trip demonstrates their continued commitment to the people of Africa through the work of the global health initiative at the George W. Honoring Africa’s & It’s Heroes
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama sign a guestbook in a prison yard as they tourRobben Island outside Cape Town, South Africa, on June 30, 2013. President Obama was “deeply humbled” by a visit to the cell where anti-Apartheid and former President Nelson Mandela spent 18 or his 27 years as a prisoner, in a solemn homage to the critically ill hero and former president of South Africa whom he was unable to see in Pretoria. (attached photo)
